Many world class artists have already performed in the wide open space to audiences of all sizes and tastes. From Indian Raga to classical masterpieces, the acoustic of the space changes dramatically with the presence of an audience, allowing both solo performances and ensembles to be heard with superior clarity. The aspects of live acoustic performances coupled with the adaptability of the space to house both formal and informal recitals and concerts has attracted acts of all shapes and sizes, and local professional talent is always on display on a monthly basis at one of the Lanterns many open performances. Our rosster of performers have included acts such as Meridian Brass, The Sideris Wind Quintet, The Watercity Band and a rising star Keyboard Soloist, Naufal Mukumi. Internationally acclaimed solo violinist Michael Bochmann has also performed at the space along with the Head of Keyboard for Trinity College of Music Ms. Deniz Gelenbe. Lanterns has also been home to local Bengali Vocalist Akash Sottar who was met with raptuous applause with his rendition of Teachers Raga Earlier this year.
The Lanterns Studio Theatre’s stunning natural acoustic has created an ideal live recording environment, particularly for its absorbtion, string resonance and keyboard clarity. With several live recording sessions now under its belt, the space caters to a wide variety of specific recording requirements and special setups involving our YAMAHA CF III FULL CONCERT GRAND PIANO (9ft) and the adaptable isolative wall configurations.
